Over 10 million duvets and pillows are sent to landfill each year in the UK, and we want that change. When it’s time to dispose of your old duvets and pillows, there are plenty of options to make sure they go on to help others, we’ve included some helpful links below to help you find the best option.

How big is the Paws for Slumber Pet Blanket?

The Paws for Slumber Pet Blanket comes in two sizes:

Can I use the pet pad for toilet training?

Yes, the pet pad features a super absorbent layer and a waterproof liner, meaning accidents are quickly absorbed without leaking through the pad.

How do I wash my pet pad or blanket?

Your pet blanket or pad can be machine washed at 40° and then tumbled dried on low or hung on a clothes horse or washing line.

How do I wash my Coverless Comfort Duvet?

Your Coverless Comfort duvet can be machine washed at 40° to keep it clean and cosy.

To dry your duvet, it can tumble dried on low or hung over a washing line or clothes horse.

We recommend ensuring your Coverless Comfort duvet is completely dry before use.

Do wool duvets smell?

As a natural material, wool contains a wax called Lanolin which aids sheep in protecting their woolly coats. Lanolin is also what gives wool its natural smell.

However, during the washing (scouring) process, a large quantity of the Lanolin is removed from the wool, reducing the smell.

When you receive your new wool duvet, we recommend airing it over a clotheshorse or washing line to remove any built-up odour
that may have occurred during storage.

Are wool duvets Itchy?

False: Wool duvets are not itchy

Wool has a reputation that it can be an itchy and uncomfortable material even with its wonderful warmth and anti-allergy properties.

Our wool duvets are wrapped in a luxuriously soft cotton cover to help the duvet naturally regulate your temperature and wick away night time moisture.

What is the Paws for Slumber Pet Bed made of?

The Paws for Slumber Pet Bed is made of is made from recycled polymers equivalent to 750 plastic bottles – a number that should certainly get tails wagging!

How do I wash the Paws for Slumber pet bed?

The Paws for Slumber Pet Bed can be machine washed at 40° and air dried.

Which weight of wool duvet is right for me?

LIGHTWEIGHT – Equivalent to 3-4.5 tog duvets, this is a great choice for summer or if you are naturally warm in bed.

MEDIUMWEIGHT – Equivalent to 7-9 tog duvets, this is a classic weight to keep you comfy all year long.

HEAVYWEIGHT – Equivalent to 10-12 togs, this is best if you prefer a thicker weight for hibernating under the covers.

 

How do I clean my wool duvet?

We recommend you allow your wool duvet to air for 24 hours before use. To allow your wool duvet to breathe and wick away moisture, use a 100% natural duvet cover. Regularly air to keep it fresh and clean. Simply hang over a bannister, clothes horse or outside on your washing line in between changing the covers. Sponge clean only.

Are wool duvets hypoallergenic?

Hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial by nature, wool bedding is ideal for anyone suffering from allergies. Unlike other materials, it won’t let dust or bed mites flourish and is averse to mould. So you can breathe easy night after night

Which pillow is right for me and how do I know?

Your natural sleeping position plays an important role in choosing the right pillow for you. Our soft pillows are perfect for front sleepers, medium support pillows are ideal for back sleepers and for those who prefer to sleep on their side, our firmer pillow gives the right level of support and comfort. What is a 'Tog' and what is right for me?

A ‘tog’ is the warmth to weight ratio of a duvet and there are various values of tog ratings – the higher the tog rating, the warmer the duvet. At Slumberdown, we believe everyone deserves a good night sleep, so visit our new buying guide to find out which duvet is right for you.

Complaints and Returns?

The warranty of your Slumberdown product is with the retailer you purchased it from. This means that you must adhere to their returns policy. For complaints and enquiries, please contact sleep@slumberdown.co.uk

Are your products flammability tested?

Yes, at Slumberdown we perform a wide range of flammability tests on our all our products. These include UKAS Flammability Tests on our bedding articles (BS 7177 and BS 7176). We also adhere to the Furniture and Furnishing regulations of 1988 on our products.

What tests do you perform on your products?

Here at Slumberdown, safety is key. We constantly maintain full compliance with applicable environmental laws, and we also carry out several safety checks on our products. 

1. Tog Testing – This measures the thermal resistance of duvets.
2. Mini Carding – This allows us to create prototype scale samples for thorough testing. Allowing us to get our products just right.
3. Tensile Testing – This measures the tensile, burst and seam strength as well seam slippage, to ensure a safe and durable product.

Are electric blankets safe?

Yes, all of our Electric Blankets are BEAB (British Electrotechnical Approvals Board) Approved. Our Electric Blankets also feature heat timers to reduce the chance the Blanket is left on.

How does the Anti-Snore pillow work?

Designed with an S shaped inner foam core, this pillow has been created to improve breathing, whilst gently supporting the head and neck. Suitable for back sleepers, this pillow has the ultimate comfort factor. The pillow does not guarantee to completely stop snoring, we are just trying to help where we can. 

Are you products Hypoallergenic?

No. Not all our products are hypoallergenic. However, if you are looking for a hypoallergenic range, we recommend our Anti-Allergy range as it can help to reduce dust mites and reduce the build-up of bacteria. This range has been tested and approved by leading experts at Allergy UK.  

What sizes do you make your products in?

All our products range are manufactured to the standard UK Sizes. 

Our duvets come in four sizes; Single 135 x 200cm, Double 200 x 200cm, King 225 x 220cm, Superking 260 x 220cm.  Our mattress protector/toppers sizes are correct as above.

Our mattress protectors and toppers also come in four sizes. Single (90 x 190cm), Double (135 x 190cm), King (150 x 200cm) and Super King (180 x 200cm).  

However, not every product we produce will be available in Super-King so it is worth taking a look at our Product Ranges on the website to double check what is available.

Our pillows are a standard size of 48cm x 74cm, so are a perfect fit for all standard beds and pillowcases. 

How often should I replace my bedding?

We recommend replacing your pillow at least every 2 years to ensure lasting comfort. For duvets, we recommend replacing at least every 3 years to keep them extra cosy. 

How often should I wash my bedding?

We recommend washing your pillows and duvets to ensure they stay clean and fresh. We would suggest that you wash them at least every three to six months for optimal condition.

Are products machine washable and suitable for tumble drying?

Not all of our products are suitable for machine washing and tumble drying. The care label of each product needs to be checked for individual washing instructions. However, we try to make as many products as possible ‘easy care’ which means they can be both washed and tumble dried to help keep your sleep space a healthier environment.

What are your different types of filling, and how do they differ?

Synthetic: Man-made synthetic fillings are easy to care for, lightweight, non-allergenic and offer great value for money against natural fillings. A high proportion of these fillings are made from recycled plastic bottles, helping reduce plastic waste to landfill. 

Natural: Natural fillings are made using all feather or a mix of feather and down, either from duck or goose. All our natural products are ethically sourced and fully certified. 

Anti-Allergenic: Anti-Allergenic: For those with allergies, the Anti-Allergy range has a specially formulated synthetic filling to help reduce dust mites and the build up of bacteria. Approved by experts Allergy UK, so you can sleep safe and easy night after night. 

Climate Control: Climate Control: The Climate Control range is made with a synthetic breathable filling that has been treated with a special treatment called DACRON. Scientifically proven to draw excess moisture away from your body so you can enjoy a dry, cool and comfy sleeping environment all night long.

What products do Slumberdown make?

Where are Slumberdown products made?

The majority of Slumberdown’s duvets, pillows and toppers are made in the UK.  A small amount of our duvets, pillows and toppers as well as all of our mattress and pillow protectors are made overseas. All our of Electric Blankets are made overseas.

Can I order a Slumberdown product to be shipped to another country?

At the moment, Slumberdown products are only available from retailers across the UK. However, as part of the John Cotton Group, we do supply other markets under our European and Australian businesses. The Slumberdown product I purchased is faulty. What should I do?

If you purchased the product within the last 30 days, please get in touch with the retailer as they will be able to help you with a refund or exchange. If you have any issues resolving this, please let us know via our contact form.

If you purchased the product more than 30 days ago, please send a photo of the receipt (if you have it) and of the code found on the back of the care label to sleep@slumberdown.co.uk  Once we have this information, we can look into it further for you.

Our range of duvets, mattress toppers and protectors are available in the following sizes: Single, Double, King and Superking (only available on select ranges).

Our range of pillows feature different support levels for a variety of sleep positions, including Soft, Medium, Firm and Super-Firm.

Our Electric Duvets are available in Single, Double, King & Super-King (Only available on certain ranges).

What are your different types of filling and how do they differ?

Our products are filled with a range of fibres including natural and synthetic. A large proportion of our products is filled with synthetic fibres derived from recycled plastic bottles, which are treated to enhance their anti-allergy qualities.

We also have a new natural range of products which are filled with 100% British Wool, providing a moisture-wicking, temperature-regulating method of keeping cosy at night.
